We're </Done>!!! (hahaha)

WE HAVE A WEBSITE!!!!!!!

we had to make some changes to our plan, but I think our final product is definitely worth the 10 hours of website work per day during BREAK! :)

We had some very ambitious goals that in the end didn't work out because it was just too complicated! So as a result the balls were booted which made it so that we weren't able to use Andrea's amazing flash!! which we loved but it was made for the older website design.
So now we have rectagular navigation links with the same awesome colors and some cool mouse-over action! woo!! look at those colors go!!

We are very proud of our site. We have a great visual design as well as a functional design.

working hard

Lately we've been staying until 9pm.
We're working on collecting all the content placing in it's rightful place.
Andrea is gone! BUT she finished her flash animation and we will be able to add it to our site once we get it! darn those school computers!

Eneida and I are going to Casti to get a few files we might need later on. Mr.Gallindo will help us get those in no time.

then adri, eneida, lilly, and I will meet at Google for robotics.
yay work!

more coding....flyout navigation.....jscript
the basic CSS code is done just need to tiddy up images and get that flyout code together.

fun!

flash animation intro ideas:
--robot throwing balls to make the menu
--gator walks across screen and tosses balls to make menu (goes w/ "gator crossing" idea)

menu options:
on right, on top (drop down)
links on balls, gears?

conclusion: stacked balls on left side

--have gator crossing logo sign diagonally cross the horizontal text of "Gatorbotics"

Visual designs!

We have awesome visual design possibilities for the website. We went through a bunch and chose 3 that we liked best.

Andrea's shades of green
------------------------
We like

  • the drop down menus

  • having lots of sub-menu items so people can easily scan the site content and find what they're interested in

Tania's Gatorbotics mocks

We like

  • the round balls of the menu, since they can be made into gears or balls. The robot can start the site off by throwing the balls a la the competition. Or not.

From the ones that didn't make it, we liked

  • when the diamond shaped gator crossing sign broke up the boring straight lines and 90 degree corners

Eneida's gears

  • the gears are different and that's cool

  • we can lay a white block on top of the gears so text can be readable on top

  • We like the gears because they uniquely express robotics identity, but could be any robotics team as currently designed.

What is Casti team identity?

  • Professionals - simplicity, polish

  • Gears - science, engineering, gears turning in our heads

Things we need to watch out for:

  • Use color and iconography in consistent way

  • Use official FIRST logo

  • Communicate a visual experience reflective of the team identity

DESIGNS!!!!!!!
We made many different ones but here are the three we're looking at.

colors!

So today we each worked on making layout designs for the website.
We did a whole bunch of different ones and they're all awesome!
We're all still learning what we need to(html, CSS...photoshop, haha)
Remember your challenge!

Anyway, next meeting is

Monday 5:30-8pm, we'll be deciding on the design and learn some more!

setting goals

We finished our calendar and have set up deadlines and goals. It was a very productive day.
We're still working on collecting and evaluating results from our expiriments.
We've divided some of the content work among ourselves, so please be as cooperative as you can when someone from the web team asks if they can interview you(for your short bio). It's hard to get a hold of everyone and we don't want to have to answer questions FOR you.
Also, be nice to us if wecome to you for any other pieces of info we need.

NOTE to all sub-teams: We will have a "Great Stories" section where we'll post some funny/amusing anecdotes about your team, so start paying attention and remember anything worth sharing. Write it up in your blog even(?) that way you'll have it there for reference later on. Thanks. :)

So...
Monday(1/23) 5:30-7pm*...Analyze CARD SORT data and decide on site organization
Wednesday(1/25) 5:30-7pm*...Design developement

ok, that's it! :D

To self: meet with Jen(Spirit team head)

*time change due to high-stress levels during week(haha)
